Email kayetanp@gmail.com
Housemates is built and run by one person, so replies can take a few days. Every email gets read. To get a useful answer first time, include:
- Your house name, and the display name you use in the app
- What you expected to happen, and what happened instead
- Your device and iOS version, and the app version (Profile → About). These documents were written against version 1.0.1
- A screenshot, if the problem is something you can see

Common questions
Is Housemates free?
You can create a house and start splitting for free. Any paid features will be clearly marked as we grow.
Which platforms is it on?
Housemates is live on iOS now. An Android version is on the way, so the whole house can join.
Is my data private?
Your house data stays between your housemates. There are no trackers, no ads, and we never sell your information. The Privacy Policy has the full detail.
How many people can be in a house?
As many as you share the invite code with. Couples, big student houses, and families all work.
Can we split things unevenly?
Yes. Split equally, by percentage, or by exact amounts down to the cent, and track who has paid.
If your question is not here, email us and we will add it.
Help topics
Creating or joining a house
One person creates the house, then shares its invite code. Everyone else joins by entering that code or scanning the QR version of it. Anyone with the code can join, so only share it with the people you actually live with. If a code gets out, create a new house and re-invite your housemates.
Adding and splitting an expense
Add the title, the amount, and who paid, then choose how it splits: equally, by percentage, or by exact amounts. Housemates tracks each person's share and whether they have settled it. Balances update for everyone in the house straight away.
Settling up and nudging
When someone pays you back, mark their share settled. The house creator can also mark everyone paid at once. If somebody is behind, you can send them a nudge, which is limited to once every 24 hours per person so it stays a reminder rather than a pile-on. Remember that Housemates records payments, it does not move money.
Chores that rotate
Create a chore, set how often it repeats, and assign it. The turn passes to the next housemate automatically on the schedule you picked, and whoever is up gets a reminder when it is due.
The house grocery list
Everyone in the house can add to and tick off the same list, and it stays in sync. When you do the shop, you can turn what you bought into a split expense so you get paid back without having to ask.
Turning notifications on or off
Notifications cover chore reminders and nudges from your house. Nothing else. You can turn them off at any time in the app, or in iOS Settings under Housemates. We never send marketing notifications.
Manage or delete your account
You can change your display name, profile photo, background, and display currency from your profile. Your profile photo stays on your device and is never uploaded.
To delete your account permanently: Profile → Account & Privacy → Delete Account
This removes your account and your personal data, including your expense participation, chore assignments, and the items you added. It cannot be undone. Records that are inherently shared, such as an expense you created that your housemates still owe money on, may stay in that house's history with your personal details removed. To have something specific removed, email kayetanp@gmail.com.
Report a bug or a privacy concern
Send bugs to kayetanp@gmail.com with the detail listed above. For anything involving your data, including access, correction, or deletion requests, use the same address. We respond to those within 30 days, as set out in the Privacy Policy.
There is nothing to bill for yet. Housemates is free to start, and if that changes we will say so clearly before it does.
